Steps to Anti-Aging and Wellness

REGULAR MEDICAL CHECKUPS
General physical examination
Lab studies (include homocysteine)
Pap test (female)
PSA (Male
Bone density studies
Cardiovascular evaluation

NURITION
Balance your intake of carbohydrates/protein/fat (each meal)
Get adequate nutrients from food
Eat fresh fruits (2-3 servings) every day
Eat fresh or frozen vegetables (2-3 services) every day
Reduce saturated fat intake
Avoid processed carbohydrates (they have calories, but no nutrients)

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS YOU SHOULD TAKE
Multivitamins with minerals – 1/day
Vitamin C – 1,000-mg/day
Vitamin D3 – 1,000-mg/twice a day
Vitamin E – 400 units/day
Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc – 1,000-mg / 500-mg / 50-mg a day

PHYSICAL EXERCISE
Walk 10 to 15 miles per week
Use small weights (5-lbs) 2 to 3 times / day
Consult a physical trainer if needed

STRESS MANAGEMENT
Learn relaxation techniques
Try meditation, yoga, tai chi
Get a massage
Treat yourself to a facial (call our Skin Care Center at 557-0800)

SPIRITUAL NEEDS
Enhances health
Contributes to longevity
Furnishes close social structure

REDUCE RISK FACTORS
Decrease alcohol consumption
Wear seat belts
Don’t take unnecessary risks

SKIN CARE (simple)
Use sun screens (we have up to #60 SPF in the Skin Care Center)
Use moisturizers
Intermittently use alpha hydroxy lotions
Maintain an adequate diet, vitamins, and water for hydration
Make an appointment with our Aesthetic Skin Care Center for a free skin care consultation

SKIN CARE (advanced)
Consider light peels (fruit acid) – Freshens skin
Consider TCA peels – These take away fine wrinkles and pigmentation
Save laser/dermabrasion – for deeper wrinkles and excessive skin damage

PLASTIC SURGERY
Use this modality to rejuvenate or correct areas of concern
Have specific goals in mind for the areas in question
Select your surgeon carefully (see article on the importance of board certification)
Can turn back the clock 8-10 years in some cases
Try other methods of rejuvenation to get in your best condition before undergoing plastic surgery – the result will be much better

Read anti-aging books
Read wellness magazines
Keep a notebook of new health information
Visit a health food store (browse and learn)
Visit a nutrition products store
Talk to a wellness specialist (we’ll refer you to one)
