IVT Sponsors 15th Annual Scholars Breakfast hosted by 200+ Men of Hampton Roads

For the second consecutive year, IVT has sponsored the Hampton Roads Scholar's Breakfast which is hosted by 200+ Men of Hampton Roads, Inc. Our sponsorship provides a table and breakfast for some of the scholars and their families at the event which celebrates the achievements of local African-American males who will graduate high school this year as honor students. The breakfast is the signature event hosted by 200+ Men of Hampton Roads and features more than 400 local African-American male honor students.

This year's keynote address was given by the Rev. Dr. Todd C. Davidson, senior pastor of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, who is also a member of the Virginia Beach School Board.

The highlight of the event is always the processional in which all of the scholars march in to a standing ovation. In addition, each scholar is presented with a medal. Another shining moment is when many of the Virginia Colleges send representatives to support the event and to give scholarships.

In addition, 200+ Men of Hampton Roads also annually sponsors the three-day "brother-to-brother" camp at Camp Silver Beach on the Eastern Shore for boys 13 and 14 years old, where campers enjoy physical activities as well as educational and personal development. Other programs include mentoring, school visitations, and an annual bus caravan to the General Assembly in Richmond, allowing high school students and others to see state government at work and to meet with the governor, state legislators and staff members.

As a sponsor of this glorious event, IVT is proud to celebrate the academic achievements of our local scholars especially those in the African-American community as some of them have overcome many obstacles in order to achieve this honor.
